Mobile camera hand measurement
Patent Pending

Patent Pending
Our system transforms standard smartphone images into precision glove patterns using multi-image computer vision and geometric modeling.
Developed under Black Hills, Inc., this patent-pending technology generates manufacturable glove designs directly from a user’s hand images—no 3D scanner required. It reconstructs surface geometry, flattens the model into 2D panels, and outputs cut-ready patterns with seam allowances, grainlines, and material compensation for stretch or compression.

We’re developing a mobile computer-vision system that converts standard smartphone photos of the hand into manufacturing-ready glove patterns. The technology uses multi-image reconstruction, landmark detection, and surface flattening algorithms to produce accurate 2D CAD outputs (DXF/SVG/PDF) compatible with laser cutters and automated sewing systems.
Current glove sizing relies on templates and guesswork. Our approach captures each user’s real hand geometry using nothing more than their phone camera. The software reconstructs the hand surface, compensates for material stretch and seam allowances, and exports a precision pattern that can go straight to production.
The goal: mass-customized gloves—athletic, industrial, or medical—without 3D scanners, molds, or manual measurement.
